Mary Harris was an adult nominee in Wilson County for the Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards. Harris serves as the president of the Wilson County Black History Committee and has been involved in the group for more than 30 years.

Her work this year brought the wisdom of the Elders Program from Vanderbilt to provide an opportunity to creatively preserve Wilson County’s black history. Wilson Bank & Trust recently sponsored plaques given to Wilson County Governor’s Stars Awards nominees.
